MDG Sponsors the 2006 Canada Post Literacy Awards

MDG Computers Canada Inc. (MDG) announced today that it will sponsor the 2006 Canada Post Literacy Awards. This is the third consecutive year that MDG has sponsored the awards, which honour individuals, organizations and businesses doing commendable work to improve reading and writing skills in Canada.

"With more than seven million Canadians having trouble reading and writing, MDG is proud to continue its sponsorship of the Canada Post Literacy Awards," said Brian Monette, Chief Marketing Officer, MDG Computers Canada. "Improved literacy skills open doors to opportunity and adventure and MDG is honoured to support achievements in Canadian literacy success."

The awards will be presented later this year recognizing Canadian literacy achievements in four categories: Individuals, Educators, Community Leadership and Business Leadership. All winners receive a certificate of achievement and public recognition. Winners in the Individual Achievement and Educator categories will receive a fully-equipped MDG computer, and winners in the Community Leadership category will receive a cash award of $2,000.

The Canada Post Literacy Awards program recognizes the contributions and accomplishments of Canadian businesses, literacy organizations, educators and learners in overcoming the barriers to literacy. Launched in 1993, the awards are open to individuals and organizations participating in, or affiliated with, a recognized literacy program in Canada and are presented in several locations throughout the country during September and October.
