THE ULTIMATE BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY BEGINS AGAIN.
Canada's largest gaming event and LAN party is back. This year, MDG Computers and Intel will sponsor Fragapalooza - Core Conflict. Once again, the event will be hosted at the Mayfield Trade Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, over the weekend of July 27th to 30th.
The Fragapalooza Core Conflict is a massive LAN Party that enables the spontaneous gathering of people together with their computers coming together primarily for the purpose of playing multiplayer computer games. Now in its tenth year, Fragapalooza Core Conflict promises 4 days of non-stop gaming. From the opening of registration at 9:00am on Thursday, the event will run non-stop until Sunday 6:00pm. This means that participants can enter into the festivities at any time and participate for as long as they wish between these two times.
Anyone can participate and each participant is expected to bring the following: Computer system (case), Monitor, Mouse and Mousepad, Joysticks/Trackballs, Keyboard, Headphones, Powerbar, Extension Cord and all software that they may require at the event, including games.
Over 1200 gaming enthusiasts, programmers and thousands of spectators are expected to attend Fragapalooza Core Conflict. Fragapalooza events are quite a significant sight and continue to grow every year. With that in mind there is no cost associated with spectator admission into the venue.
Fragapalooza Core Conflict will run 3 official tournaments at the event. The tournament machines used for competition will be of uniform specifications, but competitors are welcome to bring their own personal input equipment for use during official matches.
Every year, the favorite parts of the event are the prize giveaways that garner significant amounts of crowd interest and interaction. Prize giveaway sessions are hosted throughout the event, and traditionally the most significant giveaways are reserved for the final day of activity. With random draws, crowd toss ups, and venue-wide challenges there are numerous opportunities for motivated individuals to earn some slick prizes.
This year, MDG is also reaching out to the gaming community through its 'Evolution' challenge to built the ultimate gaming machine. 5 PC enthusiasts will be short listed among those submitting their design. They will then get a chance to show off their designer skills and engage in a head-to-head battle to build their PC within a time limit before the spectacle Fragapolooza crowd. MDG and Intel will provide all the top PC Hardware components from top suppliers as well as $1,000 for each contestant to ready their machines for battle. When the dust settles, the machines will be judged using the best benchmarking games available as well as voting from the Fragapolooza crowd. The winner will get a $5,000 part-time Gaming Consultant contract from MDG Computers. In addition, the design will be used as a foundation for the new Gaming PC product line to be developed by MDG.
